Ashish Manandhar is a Consultant at 1Spatial, based in Australia
He joined 1Spatial in 2020 as a Senior Consultant/Project Manager and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and skills in the Spatial industry.
Tell us about yourself?
I was born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal where I completed my Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics in 2010. I worked for Smart Telecom, an emerging mobile network provider in Nepal for 3 years as Radio and Access Network Engineer. I had to design, deploy and maintain the VSAT, Microwave and Optical fiber network of 2G Mobile Base Stations in rural parts of Nepal.
In 2014, I moved to Australia in pursuit of higher education and a better work role. I completed my Master's degree in ICT from La Trobe University, Melbourne and started my career as an Intern at Spatial Partners. It was here that I was introduced to FME, GisCloud, MS Power Platform and other GIS technologies. I worked as a GIS Consultant/ GIS Developer and was involved in various projects such as NBN MI to AutoCad conversion, NBN field inspection, City Council assets management and inspections.
I joined 1Spatial in Nov 2020 as a Senior Consultant and have been training up on 1Spatial’s products, especially 1Integrate. Along with this, I am also a certified FME Professional. I handle FME related projects by providing consultancy, creating, testing and deploying workspaces to solve client’s problems.
Fun fact about you?
I love to play table tennis and badminton. I used to hike/ trek a lot and one time a few years ago, I was nearly hit by lighting while trekking on remote hills of Nepal!! Fortunately, no harm done.
I am also a heritage enthusiast and am involved with Chiva Chaitya organization as a Volunteer GIS developer where we aim to conserve historic Chiva and Chaityas of Kathmandu.
Besides this, I am also interested in nature and landscape photography.
What do you enjoy most about working at 1Spatial?
I love the range of different project opportunities that have come through. I enjoy the challenge in understanding requirements and delivering solutions for various projects. It helps to sharpen and broaden my skills and apply technical concepts in solving actual problems people face in the real world.
Which of the 1Spatial Products do you manage and what does it do?
I manage 1Integrate and 1Data Gateway products and their related projects. 1Integrate is an enterprise spatial data integration platform. It enables users to collaboratively define and enforce business rules to measure and maintain spatial data quality.
1Data Gateway is a self-service web based portal that delivers data validation, data processing, and data enhancement. It is easy to use, intuitive and secure via the cloud or on-premise.
What is the best feature and benefit of 1Integrate?
1Integrate is an amazing tool for delivering automated data validation, cleaning and transformation. Almost all of its internal technologies are unique and developed for spatial data management. It is hard to choose the best feature, but if I have to, I would say it’s the ability to process huge amounts of spatial and non-spatial data easily and efficiently. The patented rules engine can easily process complex and disparate data structures, queries and rules, making life much easier.
What is the best feature and benefit of 1DataGateway?
I believe 1DataGateway's simple and smart interface is it's best feature. Users can effortlessly perform their spatial data validations and corrective actions all in a web-based portal, without any training. The built-in User management also makes it very easy to create groups based on projects allowing you to have more control over data sharing.
What do you love most about the product team you work with?
The team here at 1Spatial is amazing, always cheerful and very helpful. Everyone is highly skilled in their domain and I certainly enjoy working with everyone here at 1Spatial.
If you were given an airline ticket to go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?
Does space count? I would love to get a ticket on a space flight as a space tourist 😃. It would be great to see the earth from a distance and experience the vastness of space.
