Trace Tool

The Trace tool can be utilised to create new features or reshape existing by tracing over multiple topology features. The Trace tool is located on the Context Bar.

The Trace tool situated in the Context Bar

Trace will find the following route types:

  • The route around the same source feature.
  • The route around multiple topology features that are part of the same face.
  • The shortest path along the topology when not of the same face.

ClosedUsing the Trace tool

  1. Create a line along desired feature using the Create Line Geometry function in the Create Data Bar.
  2. Digitising the initial line along an existing vector
  3. Select the Trace tool to trace around existing geometries.

  4. Select the point where the trace will end.

  5. The start and end point of the trace are selected
  6. If complete clickAcceptto complete the Trace operation or select theCycletool in the Trace context bar to cycle through options until desired path is created.

  7. The Trace tool context bar, including the cycle feature
  8. Continue to digitise additional vertices or click accept again to create the final line feature operation.

  9. Trace completed around an existing topology feature

Note: Ensure that Repeat Mode is not selected when using the Trace tool
