Smoothing The Data Transition Utility

With limited resources and increasing complex networks, utilities and telecoms need new network management tools with more functionality, added flexibility, and open access to information.

The ArcGIS Utility Network Management extension enhances the network management capabilities within ArcGIS.  However, migrating your existing data into the new Utility Network is not a trivial task. Data Quality assessments are essential before migrating.  The new Utility Network is much more stringent than the legacy ArcGIS Geometric Network.  Most utility GIS data has spatial, topological and attribution errors and are likely missing assets all together. Migrating your data before assessing and addressing these issues can lead to years of data management troubles including data quality issues, utility model triggers not working as intended, and incorrect spatial analytics.

1Spatial is helping clients in all sectors validate, assess and clean their data to ensure a smooth transition into ArcGIS Data Models, including the new Utility Model. This webinar will cover how utility companies are leveraging 1Spatial’s services and COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf) product 1Integrate to prepare their data for the new ArcGIS Utility Network Management extension. Learn about the rules-based approach 1Spatial implements to deliver enterprise-scale, cross-platform, automation to all stages of the data lifecycle.

The 1Integrate technology underpinning the validation application assesses the quality of your data and then can propose what needs to be cleaned, including inferring where assets, such as fittings, should exist based on spatial locations and attribution. These rules can be configured to meet your business rules and schemas. Applying the 1Spatial rules-based-approach along with the 1Integrate technology can ensure your data is ready for the new utility model.
