Integrating data from multiple sources to create an organizational wide enterprise database can be challenging in the best of circumstances. Not only are there varying degrees of data quality and accuracy, but there are also numerous formats (both spatial and non-spatial) and schemas to be accounted for and meshed into the seamless base. Enterprise GIS Systems, Asset Management Systems, CRM systems, Business Intelligence (BI) Systems, and many others come into play when establishing a fully integrated enterprise.
It’s impractical and nearly impossible to manage, edit, disseminate and analyze all these sources in one system. Each system has its benefits based on a specific need. Thus, organizations must come up with a Proper Data Governance Plan to identify who is responsible for maintaining which datasets, how data will be integrated between systems, how data will be kept current, and how to assess the overall quality of the data. Establishing a good data governance plan is hard enough, but once it’s in place, how do you streamline the process and ensure it is enforced?
This presentation will focus on transportation related implementations that have utilized the 1Integrate rules engine to hone business data requirements and implement those data requirements in an automated process to not only streamline the integration but also enforce quality control throughout the data lifecycle.
