1Edit Key Concepts
The following key concepts are important to understand before using 1Edit.
Workflow Options
Depending on your deployment of 1Edit you will have one of two Workflows:
-
A workflow based on Job Packages
-
1Spatial Management Suite Worklist based workflow
Projects
Projects contain the Data required for each package of work. They will also use the Templates you have loaded into 1Edit.
Schema and Templates
1Edit works with internal object-oriented Schemas with hierarchical sets of feature classes containing spatial and non-spatial attributes.
Schemas, Styles and Topologies can be saved as Templates, which are then used to create new projects.
Styles
Styles are used to specify patterns, colours and text that will be used to display features on the map.
Within Styles, you can use background raster or map service layers, and specify which feature types will be displayed on the map.
Bookmarks
Bookmarks allow you to return to a specific map view and location quickly.
They can be created manually to save user specified locations, or can be created automatically by 1Edit to report system information
Rules and Validation
1Edit allows data quality validation rules written in 1Integrate to be loaded and run on the data in a project for Validating Data. These validation rules can be written to check that the data being edited meets an organisation's business rules.
Topology
A Topology is created by specifying the set of classes that need to remain connected when editing their shared geometry, as well as a name, a topology type, and a tolerance.
There are three topology types available to users of 1Edit:
-
Planar
-
Network t-junctions
-
Network ends
