1Edit Key Concepts
The following key concepts are important to understand before using 1Edit.
Projects
Projects contain the Data required for each package of work. They will also use the Templates you have loaded into 1Edit.
The intermediate and final results of a Session in 1Integrate are handled in 1Edit as a Project.
Inside a project there is a dataset (typically only one) and versions of the dataset corresponding to the tasks in the 1Integrate session
Schema and Templates
1Edit works with internal object-oriented Schemas with hierarchical sets of feature classes containing spatial and non-spatial attributes.
Schemas, Styles and Topologies can be saved as Templates, which are then used to create new projects.
Styles
Styles are used to specify how the map is shown on the screen.
Note: Styles are sometimes known as the "Representation" in other systems. Styles replace tools to modify representation.
In 1Edit you can have multiple pre-defined Styles and can switch quickly between them, you can also create custom styles.
Within , you can use background raster or map service layers, and specify which feature types will be displayed on the map.
Note: Styles can be saved and used across different projects.
Bookmarks
Bookmarks allow you to return to a specific map view and location quickly.
They can be created manually to save user specified locations. Bookmarks can be shared between projects.
The Geometry Store allows the displaying of temporary geometries on top of the map data to allow further analysis.
See Bookmarks and the Geometry Store for more information.
Interacting with Features
Interacting with Features is performed directly on the map, and their attributes are shown in an expandable Attributes panel on the right-hand side of the screen.
The attributes panel also shows the length/area of the feature under the geometry Metadata. You can also examine the vertices of the feature on this panel.
