Creating and Managing Actions

Actions are created and managed from the Actions workspace.

Actions are defined by General information (such as name and description) and the Action Definition (which determines the logic of the action).

Creating Actions

Once created, actions are defined by a logical structure in the Action Definition, and by using Operations (see Operations).

The basic steps for creating and defining an action are given below. For more in depth examples of creating actions, see Worked Examples.

ClosedCreate an Action

  1. Navigate to the Actions page.

  2. Within the Navigation Pane, select the folder in which you want to create a new action.

  3. Select New > Action.

A new action will be created with a default name "New Action [n]".

  4. Within the General tab, use the Name field to enter a new name for the action.

Once you have typed a name, click outside of the text field to ensure it will be saved.

  5. Click Save.

ClosedDefine an Action Definition

  1. Open the action to be defined, and navigate to the Action Definition tab.

  2. (optional) Select the root node of the rule and define the class of objects to be queried (see Class Labels).

  3. Click New and select Operation.

Select the type of operation you want to add to the action (see Operations).

  4. Set up the values and relationships required by your selected operation.

Note: If Auto-Assist is turned on, placeholders will be created for all required elements. If not, you will have to add each element manually.

  5. Click Save.

Note: You cannot delete an item if it is associated with a session.
