Navigating Automated Crash Conflation Solutions for Enhanced DOT Analysis
Wednesday, August 7th at 2:20 PM EST
State Departments of Transportation (DOTs) face the critical task of reporting on annual crash occurrences along their roadways. Understanding crash trends within specific route sections is essential. However, this analysis is complicated by the fact that crash data is often collected manually in the field or via GPS devices, and the precise location of incidents does not always align with the centerline network. To conduct a thorough analysis, DOTs must correlate crash data, including coordinate locations and other relevant information, with their Linear Referencing System (LRS) Network.
Even after matching crash data to the appropriate LRS network section, the LRS undergoes continuous updates, potentially causing historical crash data to become disassociated from the correct post mile location. These year-to-year changes further challenge trend analysis. To address these complexities, DOTs have adopted an automated solution that conflates current and historical data consistently. By using a rules-based approach, automated systems update historical crash data to align with the current LRS network and apply the same rules to match current crash records. This approach ensures a reliable, repeatable product that requires minimal manual intervention year after year. Join us in discussing how this automated process can be used to support DOT’s and Emergency Service organizations as well as other use cases.

Automation...the “Easier Button” to Parcel Data Governance
Thursday, August 8th at 12:00 PM EST
As many organizations manage multiple parcel databases on varying levels of data quality, there is a need to ensure standards are consistently met regardless of source and format. Automated workflows not only simplify validation, clean-up, and integration of data, but also empower users to track and measure overall data integrity. State and local governments, for example, benefit from identifying changes in GIS parcel data such as splits and merges and cross-checking them with changes in Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) records. 1Spatial’s Land Parcel Data Management Solution was designed to tackle the challenges inherent in maintaining parcel databases and allow optimization of the resulting high data quality for purposes such as Next Generation 9-1-1. Join us to learn more about how to apply these methodologies in your organization.

TUgis is a cooperative undertaking of three primary partners—Maryland State Geographic Information Committee, Maryland Department of Information Technology, and Towson University—and is overseen by the TUgis Advisory Committee, which is dedicated to growing and empowering the GIS community throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
