London Pilot Win
1Spatial, the global spatial software and solutions company is pleased to announce it has been awarded the Greater London Authority (GLA) London Underground, Asset Register (LUAR) pilot contract following a competitive process. The GLA has been awarded funding by the Geospatial Commission for a pilot to create a digital map of the utilities and pipes underground, in order to test the feasibility of creating a national register in the future. This project is known nationally as The National Underground Asset Register (NUAR).
1Spatial, in collaboration with the GLA, will deliver transformed and platform ready asset register data, for the LUAR pilot. In awarding the pilot, GLA took into account 1Spatial’s approach to data transformation, which is designed for agility, flexibility, scale, complexity and managing uncertainty.
All relevant learnings from 1Spatial’s work within the LUAR pilot will be included in any future tenders for the benefit of shared learnings to help build a digital map of underground pipes and cables intended to help save lives and reduce the disruption caused when they are struck by mistake. It is estimated that the cost of accidental strikes on underground pipes and cables is £1.2 billion a year to the UK’s economy.
Claire Milverton, CEO of 1Spatial, commented:
“We are delighted to have been selected for this strategically important and exciting pilot. We have an excellent track record of collaborating with organisations across the UK and globally to build, implement and support solutions that automate data flows, data integration and data quality and we look forward to leveraging these skills for GLA during the pilot.”
