Take a break with Jennifer Whitney, CFO (1Spatial Inc.)

Tell us about yourself?

I've been CFO for 1Spatial Inc. (Americas) for four years, adding to my career including many years in public accounting, an equally long stint at Dell Computers in a variety of finance roles, and many years as COO of a small construction sub-contractor.  As you can see, I have spanned a number of industries, each one providing me the opportunity to learn and grow.

During that time, my husband and I have also raised three wonderful children (Max, Sebastian and Josephine) and a wide variety of pets on our 8 acres outside of Austin, Texas. Our kids are all out on their own now, but we have recently adopted three small dogs from rescue organizations, which have filled our house with constant activity!

Fun fact about you?

I was a David Bowie "fanatic" as a teenager and have a good size collection of his albums, including a number of near-mint Japanese pressings.

What do you enjoy most about working at 1Spatial?

The people - the opportunities for growth both as a Company and individually - the overall atmosphere of excitement about what we do!

What are your favorite geospatial products/technologies and why?

I am going to have to go 1Data Gateway on that one - as it is the most user-friendly tool for those of us without geospatial backgrounds to understand in action!

What do you love about working in the Finance/HR team?

1Spatial as a global company truly places value on both the Finance and the HR arenas, such that rather than being "in the background", we are active participants in the decision-making for the company.

What makes 1Spatial a great place to work?

Everything I said above regarding what I enjoy most about working here - the people, the opportunity, the excitement in where we are going!

If you were given an airline ticket to go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Assuming we are COVID-free and this is a return ticket, I'd love to go to Argentina, as it is a part of the world I have no experience in and would love to sample the food, wine and fantastic scenery first-hand.  Or Paris of course!
