Central and Local Government

USA Census Bureau - Data validation and integration

The client wanted to reduce the costs and labour associated with field workers in the US census. It required the integration of disparate data sources, including address lists and road and boundary data. Our automated solution for the validation and submission of data, as well as an automated “change update” process, helped contribute to a cost avoidance of $5 billion.

Danish Agency for Data Supply and Efficiency (SDFE) - 3D data validation

The client wanted to create a coherent data foundation and infrastructure for building a digital society. 1Spatial are working closely with SDFE on a pilot project, together with the Danish municipality of Aarhus (the second largest city in Denmark) to automate the workflow for producing a 3D city model / digital twin and data quality specification. The import of geospatial data into a 3D database will be automatically validated using 1Integrate 3D. The pilot aims to create a process that could be scaled and used across multiple municipalities.

Rural Payments Agency - Data validation and integration

The client wanted to be a more digital and data-driven organisation, and needed to transform the existing process of manually validating geospatial data submissions. Updates submitted by inspectors or from aerial photography needed validation by the land digitisers, and there was a back-log of hundreds of updates that required checking. 1Spatial, in collaboration with Version1, developed a solution for the automatic validation of data submissions, thereby reducing the need for manual intervention. This enabled RPA to reach its payment targets, increasing the efficiency of the claims process and delivered greater accuracy in payments

Northumbrian Water Group (NWG) - Sewer inference

The client wanted to map the depth of underground assets for improved safety, planning and efficiencies. We helped NWG infer the depth of buried pipes based on a set of customised business rules. The mapping of NWG’s new pipe network was completed in 88% less time than had originally been planned using traditional survey methods. The project will help save NWC more than £8 million, with efficiencies in reduced roadwork delays and less damages to pipework.

National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) - Data validation and integration

The UK Geospatial Commission aims to map the UK’s underground assets for improved works planning, reduced utility strikes, reduced supply disruption as well as greater efficiencies and cost-savings. 1Spatial. in partnership with Atkins, and the OS, is leading the development of the data transformation and data ingestion programme. Data owners submit their data through the user-friendly 1Data Gateway platform, where it is automatically transformed and validated against the NUAR data model and made available in a secure manner.

Emergency Services

Avon and Somerset Police (PoC) - Data validation and enrichment

The client needed to improve the quality and accuracy of police address data and boundaries. By creating unique property reference numbers for each police record, checking the record against the Government database, updating the coordinates, and assessing and correcting beat boundaries, we helped improve the accuracy of location data, using the Police Data Quality Hub.

States of Minnesota, Georgia and Arizona - Data validation and integration

The clients needed a system to validate and aggregate geospatial data layers from local government entities to support NG 9-1-1 requirements for geospatial call routing. Combining 1Integrate with our self-service cloud platform 1Data Gateway, data submitters can submit and assess their data against pre-configured rules to identify exactly where the data requires adjustment, enabling users to accurately pinpoint problems and errors that can be rectified quickly. To date, we have already helped 8+ States with their NG911 readiness needs.

Ordnance Survey Great Britain - Data governance

Ordnance Survey Great Britain wanted to deliver accurate, up-to-date geographic data to customers following the ‘Survey once, Store once, Use many' mantra. Along with a consortium, 1Spatial developed a solution to ensure the quality of OS data is maintained consistently at a high level and that automated data validation was built into the workflow. The 1Spatial solution allows OS to solve spatial problems in an enterprise environment using the best technology available, in addition to future proofing them for when new technology is added at a later date.

Ordnance Survey N. Ireland - Data interoperability

Following a merger, Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland needed a more joined up system of land and property data. The data was held in separate legacy systems preventing it from being shared both within the organisation and across government. By embedding unique spatial identifiers into its land use and built environment, we helped them create an integrated geospatial information framework, improving user confidence in data accuracy and quality, as well as in the ongoing capturing and management of data.

Environmental Agencies

HS2 and LM - Data Validation

Laing Murphy, on behalf of HS2, Britian's new high-speed rail line, required an automated and reliable data validation solution to ensure consistency in ecology survey data submissions, thereby enabling faster data provision to secure licences for granting woodland winter clearance works. Automated, predefined data validation rules check 100% of the data 100% of the time - a marked improvement from the previous manual approach that checked only a sample of submissions. The solution allowed data to be available for analysis by LM’s ecology licencing team within 24 hours, rather than up to two weeks after submission, improving delivery times and reducing costly delays.

Environment Agency - Data Assurance

Asset data supplied to EA as geoCOBie files needed to be assured against contractually defined standards at the point of delivery. EA, Defra and 1Spatial implemented an automated service called Datastore, Rules and Visualisation (DRV), for extracting, assuring and storing geoCOBie files. The digital service assures GeoCOBie asset data using the 1Integrate rules engine. Allowing supply chain partners online access to the data validation rules transfers responsibility to contractors to ensure the quality of their data prior to submission
