Defence
1Spatial assists geospatial data creators and defence providers around the globe to develop a strong digital backbone, significantly helping them move towards data-centric geospatial information management. Through automated master data management, data is treated as a strategic asset, continuously managed and ready for use.
Data as a strategic asset
Ensure Defence geospatial data is both consistent and coherent and usable across all systems that require use. A standardised and validated Digital Backbone will deliver better and more consistent decisions and outcomes.
Sovereign and Secure
Guarantee the sovereignty and security of your data assets – data is held and processed within the UK. Compliance and certification to ISO 27001:2022 and the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials Plus scheme mean robust, reliable and resilient information security management.
Standardised
Empower Defence to easily comply with all required and emerging standards. Establish a future data architecture that is coherent and compliant, enabling re-use and scaling of solutions.
Interoperable
Ensure compliance with established domain specific standards which underpin interoperability and maximise exploitation. This means that data can be consumed by software and increase automation and prompt delivery to front line systems.
Consolidated
Establish a single source of truth which is both accurate and up to date. Consume and consolidate data from several sources to maximise the value that can be extracted, and eliminate disparate data silos.
Our Experience
As specialists in data management, we have worked with defence sector and Geospatial Intelligence (GeoInt) customers around the world, including the UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD), the Brazilian Army and the Royal Saudi Air Force. We have helped them automatically assimilate geospatial data in different formats, often in real or near-real time – because smarter data means better-informed decisions.
This is especially important in the of aeronautical data where 1Spatial is currently working with defence and developing two new products to enable the consolidation of and ensure that UK Defence will have a market leading capability to collect, process, maintain and disseminate aeronautical data worldwide in line with current and emerging legislation. This will allow continued collaboration and sharing of both defence and civilian data with Allied Nations and ensure that UK Defence can continue to project itself internationally.
No 1 AIDU feeds forces with accurate aeronautical information
“1Spatial has a good understanding of what’s required and over the last couple of years we’ve developed a very collaborative relationship. It’s helped us massively. Not only does it save us a lot of time and money, but it means we end up with the best solution for our needs.”
No 1 AIDUOur Technology
Our rules-based technology automates data management processes such as data validation, cleansing, integration and conflation. By translating expert knowledge into user-defined, user-managed rules we enable organisations to quickly ingest new data from different sources and in different formats.
Our solutions eliminate much of the labour-intensive manual checking that is traditional in geospatial data management. One client, the MoD’s No 1 AIDU, reduced critical data upload processes from 28 to just 2 days. The new systems we’re developing will improve on this by automating many of the manual processes currently used.
Our technology also supports the nimble creation of new map or chart products – in digital and paper form which are updated regularly – for special operations and collaboration with allies.
Data Foundations using Automated Data Management
- Each Defence organisation has its own unique data challenges and data management needs, and only through working in partnership can the enormous potential within this data be unlocked.
- Our domain experts work in close collaboration with all stakeholders across Defence Organisations to establish an in-depth understanding of the data, its policies, and their needs.
- We then build sustainable data foundations from which data is continually mastered - ensuring trusted, coherent and consistent data to leverage.
