During the webinar, Phill Ridley, Senior Consultant, discusses;

  • Defining an authoritative dataset and how does it differs from a trusted dataset
  • Benefits and risks of using third-party data
  • Handling data correctly, to achieve maximum benefits
  • Minimising risks to your data quality

The quality of an authoritative dataset is paramount and maintaining the quality is a responsibility that affects the entire business. Authoritative datasets are the backbone of evidence-based decisions in a vast range of scenarios from planning, to emergency services responses and climate change. It is therefore vital that those using authoritative datasets are able to trust their data and those responsible for maintaining those datasets take the necessary actions to maintain that trust.

As society becomes increasingly connected, those responsible for the authoritative datasets are increasingly having to look to third party organisations for data contributions to their central data. Whilst this has many benefits, mainly improving the currency and depth of the authoritative data, it also poses a threat as data from third party organisations can vary in accuracy and validity.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or would like to discuss the topic further, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
