1Spatial, the global geospatial software and solutions company, is delighted to join the Open Data Institute (ODI) members network. 1Spatial is a long-time advocate of openness for geospatial data. The company works with government departments, national mapping agencies, utilities, transportation organisations and commercial businesses around the world helping them to develop their data infrastructures and make their data smarter. Its clients include Ordnance Survey Great Britain, the UK Ministry of Defence, US Census Bureau, European Union Satellite Centre and Northumbrian Water plc.
As geospatial, or location, data becomes increasingly important in decision-making, organisations are under increasing pressure to manage, publish and share authoritative, current information that is always ready for interrogation. 1Spatial’s innovative, open rules-based approach improves organisations’ data infrastructures by turning expert knowledge into automated, repeatable rules. The ODI was founded in 2012 by the inventor of the web Sir Tim Berners-Lee and Artificial Intelligence expert Sir Nigel Shadbolt to advocate for the innovative use of open data to affect positive change across the globe. It works with companies and governments to build an open, trustworthy data ecosystem, where people can make better decisions using data and manage any harmful impacts.
