Tell us about yourself ?

My background is rather musical until I got into information technology and Geographic Information Systems in particular.  I have been passionate about GIS for over 25 years!

Immediately I knew there was something to be done with this technology, something that could make a real difference in people's lives and in the way they see information.

I first worked in Canada, as I am originally from Quebec. In fact, my parents are still in Canada.

Are there any fun facts about you?

In the 90's, well before the deployment of the Internet, I designed and developed the first GIS Framework commercialised by the company GEOMAP, which was the basis of the technical offer of the company for many years.

Then I founded GEOMAP Canada and set up a team to promote this GIS technology across the Atlantic. Today, 1Spatial still works with this team, which very recently became Indixio, a company specialized in Information Management.

What do you like most about working at 1Spatial?

I really enjoy working at 1Spatial because the management trusts the employees, so that we can carry out our work and research in an autonomous way, in a very agile approach, while remaining very collaborative and in permanent relation with the teams.

I really appreciate the competence of the internal collaborators; I always find the right person to give me the right answer. The team is dynamic and I get to meet new people as time goes by.

I think it's fun to work at 1Spatial. We are in a very international environment. And as a member of Commonwealth, since I am Canadian, we have the same Queen!

What are your favorite geospatial products and technologies and why?

Our products are open, powerful, reliable. I like them all. That being said, my favorite product today is 1Integrate, in which I discover new possibilities every day. We use 1Integrate 3D to validate the quality of BIM and IFC model data, before integrating them into 2D or 3D repositories to initiate asset management.

The product is truly ultra-customisable and can be used to perform all types of high-performance processing for Business Information Modelling (BIM).

What is the most interesting data challenge you have tackled?

I'm convinced that BIM is the market that will have the greatest growth in the next decade.

I want to put 3D in every application!

What do you like about working in the development team?

I love the technology, but mostly the people, no two days are ever the same. Sometimes I'm brainstorming with customers or colleagues, writing documentation on solutions, setting up projects, developing of course, researching to ensure that the next generations of GIS will always be state of the art....

I always enjoy talking with teams about a wide range of technical topics. There are always new problems to solve and innovative topics to analyse.

If you were given a plane ticket to go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I can’t choose between Mexico and Egypt, because I love pyramids.
